Over the past several years, quite a few timeshare developers have shown exponential growth of their facilities world wide. Granted, some of this growth was because of great business practices and generosity throughout the facilities. However, the majority of this growth can now be attributed to forceful and aggressive sales tactics on the part of the timeshare sales representatives because of studies done to ease the minds of angry Americans.
Now that studies have shown wrong doing in the timeshare sales industry, a lot angry people have decided to look into ways to get rid of their timeshares one way or another. Finding that it is almost impossible to sell a timeshare in the down economy a lot of these Americans have decided to look into the timeshare cancellation process. Though it is a very new procedure, thousands of people have already experienced relief from timeshare cancellation. But, what exactly is timeshare cancellation and how does it work?
Timeshare cancellation is the process of deeding a timeshare back to the developer based on discrepancies in the sales process and contract associated with the timeshare. In many cases, consumers will also recover a portion or all of their losses associated with their timeshares. However, being that timeshare cancellation is based on discrepancies primarily in the sales process, to qualify for timeshare cancellation, the timeshare sales representative must have done something wrong. As a matter of fact, there are 52 laws that regulate the sale of timeshares to consumers. Although I don't have enough time or space to outline all 52 laws, here are the 3 the majority of common broken rules:
Long Tours: During the process of selling a timeshare, the first step is the tour. This is when the sales representatives will take Americans through the timeshare to show off the beautiful properties. However, studies show that when these tours last longer than 90 minutes, people tend to feel more of an urgency to purchase the timeshare without rational thought. Therefore, if your timeshare tour was longer than 90 minutes, it was unlawful for the sales representative to sell you your timeshare the same day!
False Sense Of Urgency: In sales, one of the primary goals is to create a sense of urgency for the people to purchase the product or service being sold. However, many timeshare sales representatives have used deceptive sales tactics to create a false sense of urgency in the mind of Americans. These tactics can include a statement such as “This may be the last day that you will qualify for this offer”. Creating a false sense of urgency is a forceful and aggressive sales tactic that is not tolerated by law!
Investment: The word investment is one that implies to consumers that their buy will grow in value over time. Since the vast majority of timeshare sales representatives are not licensed financial advisors, they are not at liberty to make this sort of claim! As a matter of fact, it is unlawful for timeshare sales representatives to imply to Americans that a timeshare is a great investment.
Once the timeshare cancellation company finds out which laws were broken during the sales process of a timeshare, they will use that information as ammunition in a legal battle to deed the timeshare back to the developer.
